What We Want

The #BlackOutBlackFriday movement demands equal justice for ALL American citizens.

In the wake of #Ferguson, it’s become painfully clear that people of color, and Black people in particular, are still unjustly targeted by law enforcement and the criminal justice system.

The lack of indictment in the deaths of Michael Brown of Ferguson, MO, John Crawford III of Ohio, and many, many more victims of police deaths are unacceptable in this modern society. To that end, we will cease spending money on American retail corporations until a change is made.

This is what we want:

1. Mandatory body cameras for all law enforcement officers, nationally.

2. Mandatory community engagement training for all police officers.

3. Federal charges for Darren Wilson, the police officer who shot and killed 18-year-old Michael Brown.

4. An end to the use and supplying of weapons of war (military tanks, military rifles, combat equipment) to local law enforcement.

#BlackOutBlackFriday will continue to boycott large U.S. retailers, well past the holiday shopping season, until these changes are made to our justice and law enforcement systems.

The sentiment is simple:
